Levi C. McCorkle was born on 27 Oct 1879 in Cynthian Township of Shelby County. The eldest son of Cyrus E. and Mary Elizabeth Younker,  he took over some of his father’s land, continuing the family farming trade. He married Nannie Frances Wurtz, and they had four children: Omer, who was born in 1906 and died at five years of age; Lester, who died at birth in 1903; Helen Isabel in 1905; and Cecil Calvin in 1909.
He and his brother Ira have been described as “small, wiry” men, in contrast to their tall other brothers.
Nannie died on 5 Sept 1950. Levi later went to live with his son Cecil and it was there that suffered a heart attack and died 13 March 1966.  He and Nannie are buried in the same cemetery as his parents and other family members, Fair View.
