      PROMINENT SIDNEY MAN DIES TUESDAY
      William H. Wagner, Identified With Sidney All His Life, Is Taken.
      William H. Wagner, long identified with the business, civil, social and religious life of Sidney, died on New Years Day at 1:30 o'clock at his home in that city after a long illness. In his death Sidney has suffered the loss of a useful and valuable citizen and a much beloved and highly respected man.
      Mr. Wagner was born and reared in Sidney the son of Mathias and Anna Rauth Wagner. He was born on May 4, 1855 and attended the parochial and public schools of Sidney and St. Mary's College, of Dayton. He was one of the organizers of the First National Bank in 1880 and served as its president from the time of its organization until the time of his death. He also helped organize the Peoples Savings and Loan Association of Sidney, serving as its president and member of the board of directors for many years. He was president of the Sidney Telephone Company and of the Wagner Manufacturing Company from the time of its organization, a director and officer in both the Monarch Machine Tool Company and Sidney Machine Tool Company, member of the board of Trustees of the Dayton University, member of the Sidney Country club and Knights of Columbus.
      He was a member of the Holy Angels church where he was tenor soloist in the choir for a number of years.
      Mr. Wagner was first married to Miss Sophia Cable of Sandusky, who died in 1883. He then married Miss Ina M. Graber, of Findlay who died in 1912. His third wife was Miss Esther O. Owens, of Bluffton, who survives him.
      Others of the family left to mourn are his five sons: Cable of Sidney, Dr. Mathias Wagner of Toledo, Rev. Monsignor R. M. Wagner, now studying in Rome, Italy, Alfred of Springfield, and Richard of Sidney, and Mrs. Joseph K. Wilson of Sidney. There are also ten grandchildren. One daughter, Anna Mary, and one son, William, have preceded him in death.
      There are also three surviving sisters, Mrs. I. H. Thedieck and Mrs. A. A. Gerlach of Sidney, Mrs. Anton H. Webber of Chicago and two brothers, Milton M. Wagner and Louis R. Wagner, both of Sidney.
      Funeral services will be conducted at the Holy Angels church, Sidney, Friday morning at 10 o'clock incharge of the Archbishop of Cincinnati, John T. McNicholas assisted by Father Fortman, pastor of Holy Angels church. Rev. Eugene Gerlach of North Star and Rev. John P. Treacy of Cleveland.
      Internment at Graceland cemetery.
