1881 Citizens National Bank Note
1881 Citizens National Bank Note
This bank note is for $288.58 in September of 1881. Thats a lot of money back then. I did a little research and found the person writing the check, David K. Gillespie, ran a grainery in the kirkwood area. The person receiving the check, William Valentine, was a farmer in the kirkwood area. This check being written in September indicates it is most likely payment for a crop William brought in.

1908 Postcard-back
1908 Postcard-back
1908 postcard postmarked Sidney Ohio. The front is a picture of an unknown family (husband, wife & daughter I suppose) setting on their front porch dressed in their "Sunday best." It was mailed to my greatgrandfather when he was living in Allegheny, Pa. He came to Sidney sometime in 1908 -1909 and opened G. Weber's Place (which you already have a pic of on your site.) The back of the card has a message but it's written in German and I have no idea what it says. Interesting thing about the picture is that the man has some type of bird (perhaps a little chicken) perched on his left knee. Perhaps someone will see it and identify the family.

Thanks
