Shelby County in the Civil War
15th Regiment O.V.I.

  
This regiment was organized in the State of Ohio at large, in September 1861, to serve three years.  On the expiration of its term of service, the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization composed of volunteers and recruits, retained in service until November 21, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders of the War Department.  (From the Official Army Register, part V., page 70)
